Affinity

The second film in Great Ocean – Sangharakshita and Friends, Affinity, draws on Sangharakshita’s memoir Moving Against the Stream to recount his return to Britain in the mid 1960s. Amid tensions with the Buddhist establishment, new friendships opened unexpected doors — most profoundly with Terry Delamare, and in Sangharakshita’s first homosexual encounter with a young man from California. Through these bonds, both visionary and intimate, the film reveals how friendship reshaped his life and set the ground for a new Buddhist community. 1964-1969
